Delhi Police asks BJP MP Tejashwi Surya to join probe into vandalism at Kejriwal’s residence

Delhi Police has asked Lok Sabha MP Tejashwi Surya to join the probe into the alleged vandalism of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence here. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. According to officials, Surya has been asked to join the investigation through a written communication. He has assured his cooperation and said that he will join the investigation. Police said that eight people have been arrested from Delhi in connection with the incident. A total of 26 people, including eight who were arrested in connection with the incident, have been questioned.

They were identified through technical sources, he said. On March 30, members of the BJP youth wing allegedly vandalized property outside Kejriwal’s residence, against his remarks on “The Kashmir Files film”. Police had registered a case against unknown people in connection with the incident. Under IPC sections 186 (obstructing public servant from discharge of public functions), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 353 (assault or criminal force to prevent public servant from discharging his duty) and 332 Case was registered. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi had said that voluntarily causing hurt to prevent public servant from his duty) and Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wanted to “kill” Kejriwal (Delhi Chief Minister) after the defeat in the Punjab elections. He also alleged that workers of the saffron party’s youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) damaged CCTV cameras and security barriers installed at the chief minister’s residence during the protests.
