Delhi Police registers FIR against Nupur Sharma, Naveen Jindal, Owaisi and others for hate messages on social media

Delhi Police on Wednesday registered a case against some people who are allegedly spreading messages of hate, inciting various groups and creating a situation which is detrimental to the maintenance of public peace.

The FIR, registered by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of the Special Cell, includes AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, expelled Delhi BJP’s media wing chief Naveen Kumar Jindal, Peace Party’s chief spokesperson Shadab Chauhan. Journalist Saba Naqvi, Hindu Mahasabha office-bearer Pooja Shakun Pandey, Maulana Mufti Nadeem.

Police said a second FIR has been registered against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and some other social media users under similar sections.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (IFSO) KPS Malhotra said that the FIR is against people of different religions. Malhotra said that this unit will examine the role of various social media entities in promoting false and misinformation with the intention of creating unrest on the cyber space and its impact on the physical space thereby interfering with the social fabric of the country. There will be a compromise.

Others named in the FIR are Abdur Rehman, Gulzar Ansari and Anil Kumar Meena.

Nupur Sharma was recently embroiled in a controversy over her objectionable remarks made on Prophet Mohammad during a televised debate on May 28. An FIR was lodged against Sharma, a former national spokesperson of the BJP, by the Mumbra police in Thane district. Pydoni Police in Mumbai for his remarks.

Maulana Mufti Nadeem, named in the IFSO’s FIR, is from Bundi in Rajasthan and is featured in a viral video where he can be heard threatening violence against those who speak against the Prophet.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against Hindu Mahasabha functionary Pooja Shakun Pandey by Aligarh Police for making objectionable remarks on social media against Friday prayers.

The 41-year-old national secretary of the Hindu Mahasabha was also arrested in 2019 along with her husband and Hindu Mahasabha national spokesperson Ashok Pandey for allegedly recreating the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Indian Express The report said.
