Delhi Police starts sending investigation updates through SMS, email

Delhi Police has started giving digital updates to the complainants on the progress of investigation in their cases.

Chinmoy Biswal said, “Besides registering the FIR, the complainants are now informed about the arrest of the accused as per the directions of Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana and through SMS on their mobile numbers and filing of chargesheet/final report through email.” Will be informed.” force spokesman said on Sunday.

Mr Biswal said that when multiple accused are involved, an update on the arrest of each of them will be sent.

“When an FIR is lodged, the complainant has to mention his mobile number and email address, where the update can be sent on handing over to the Inquiry Officer or chargesheet/final report,” a press note said.

Mr Asthana took this step after directing the Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Devesh Srivastava to keep the complainants posted at various stages of the progress of the investigation.

According to the police, 11,376 such messages have been sent to the complainants so far.
