New Delhi: Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday said physical classes in schools in the national capital will remain suspended from Friday till further orders in view of the rise in air pollution levels.

The decision came after the Supreme Court on Thursday pulled up the Delhi government for resuming physical classes in schools amid rising air pollution levels in the city.

We had reopened schools in view of the forecast for improvement in air quality. However, the air pollution level has risen again and we have decided to close the schools from Friday till further orders, Rai said.

Physical classes had resumed in schools, colleges and other educational institutions from Monday after being closed since November 13.
