In jail, he met Arif Mohammad, accused in the Red Fort attack, and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Sohail. Sources told that Sohail went to Pakistan in 2018 and Naushad was in touch with Sohail after coming out of jail in April 2022.

Sources said Naushad was tasked by Sohail to kill influential Hindus, while the other accused Jagjit Singh was asked to publicize the activities of Sikh separatist group Khalistan in India.

Jagjit was reportedly in touch with Khalistani terrorist Arshdeep Dalla.

Police said three pistols, 22 cartridges and two hand grenades were recovered from the accused.

Sources said the accused were living in Jahangirpuri, where a communal clash took place in 2020, but the intelligence agencies had no information about it.
