Delhi University Admission 2022 50% likely to be on the basis of entrance exam, 50% 12th marks

NS Delhi University (DU) The admission process for admission to its undergraduate courses is likely to change from the next academic year. It is likely that the university will enroll the students on the basis of the entrance exam as well as class 12 board exam marks.

Likely to be implemented by DU, after last year’s process Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) From the next academic year. If implemented, marks obtained in CUCET will have 50 per cent weightage in the merit list, while the remaining 50 per cent weightage will be given to class 12 board exam marks as per the existing ‘best of four’ cut-off system.

A panel member told ThePrint that even if DU opts for the entrance test, it will still have to decide whether to go with CUCET or conduct it on its own. However, DU vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh said that before taking any final decision, he will discuss the CUCET before the academic and executive council.

“The university has received communication from UGC. We will place this proposal before our statutory bodies, Academic Council and Executive Council and finalize how DU will adopt CUCET.”

Last month, DU had constituted a panel to look into the admission process in its affiliated colleges to check if there were any discrepancies. The panel will submit its report and based on that a final decision will be taken.

DU faced a lot of criticism from the candidates for its admission process. For its 2021 admission, Eight colleges release 100 percent cut-off Its first on the list. In addition, reports also suggested that over 6,000 students of the Kerala Board scored 100 percentile, and thus were eligible for courses where the cut-off reached 100 percentile. This raised concerns saying that Kerala had disproportionate admissions Board students in the university. On the other end, State board students had complained to CBSE Come through an “easy marking process” and are able to get admission in DU because of the Class 12 four-digit system.

The panel member said that DU also discussed with various boards about moderation of marks for admission, which is very unlikely to happen. “We are not looking at marks moderation right now… we are studying the data from the exam and trying to see if there are any discrepancies that need to be corrected. We will submit our report to the Academic Council and the Vice-Chancellor and then a final decision will be taken by next month.”
