Delhi’s Ayanagar records 1.8 degree Celsius temperature, 26 train ports delayed by one to 10 hours

The outbreak of cold wave continued in Delhi for the second day on Friday.

Cold wave continued to prevail in Delhi for the second day on Friday with the minimum temperature in southwest Delhi’s Ayanagar falling to 1.8 degrees Celsius. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, a dense sheet of fog enveloped northwest India and central and eastern parts of the country, affecting road and rail traffic. A railway spokesperson said the arrival of at least 26 trains was delayed by one to 10 hours due to the fog.

The Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi’s main meteorological station, recorded a minimum temperature of four degrees Celsius. The minimum was recorded at 3 degrees Celsius on Thursday, 4.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 8.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. In Delhi, Friday morning minimum temperature ratio at Lodhi Road, Ayanagar and Ridge Season Centre: 3.8 degree Celsius, 1.8 degree Celsius and 3.3 degree Celsius.

Slight relief expected from tomorrow

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of three degrees Celsius on Thursday, the lowest temperature recorded in January in the last two years. Due to this, Delhi has been more frigid for many hill stations. The effect of cold wave is also being seen on electric vents, which has created a challenge for animals and livestock. Palam observatory near Indira Gandhi International Airport recorded 200 meters at 5.30 am. A senior IMD official told that from January 7, due to a new Western Disturbance in North-West India, there is a possibility of getting some relief from the cold.
