Delivery agent killed after being hit by car, dragged for 500 meters in Noida

Officials said that he was dragged for about 500 metres.

Noida:

In a hit-and-run case similar to the Delhi car accident in Noida on Sunday, a delivery agent was killed after a car rammed his two-wheeler and dragged him for about 500 metres.

Police said Kaushal, who works at Swiggy, was out for delivery on New Year’s night when a car rammed his two-wheeler near a flyover in Noida Sector 14.

Eyewitnesses say that the driver stopped the car near a temple, about 500 meters from the accident spot, and fled from the spot after Kaushal’s body came out.

When Kaushal’s brother Amit called him at one o’clock on Sunday night, a passer-by received the call and informed about the accident.

Officials said a case has been registered on the basis of Amit’s complaint and investigation is on.

“We are scanning CCTVs installed in the area to trace the accused,” said an officer.

The incident took place hours after a 20-year-old woman was hit by a car in Delhi and dragged for about 13 km.

Anjali Singh’s naked body was later found on the road, bearing multiple injuries, which sent shock waves across the nation on New Years.

The car riders drove from Sultanpuri, where they had collided with her scooter, to Jonti village near Kanjhapura, where a man finally saw her hand coming out from under the car, her clothes torn as she dragged them.

Five people, who have reportedly admitted to being drunk at the time of the accident, have been arrested and charged with “culpable homicide not amounting to murder”, negligent driving and causing death by negligence.
