Denmark’s ambitions have increased in 2022 FIFA World Cup: Christian Eriksen

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen says his country’s goals World The rise to the cup comes after their run to the semi-finals of the European Championships last year.

The team made a comeback from a painful defeat by Ericsson in their Euro 2020 opener against Finland after suffering a heart attack and made it to the last four, where they lost to England at Wembley.

“When we were in the finals last time, there was a clear goal to cross the group stage and move on from there,” Eriksson said in an interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK.

“That is something we must do now. We will move forward from the group, and we will move forward as far as possible.

“Of course, we need to be lucky and play some good games, but our goal for the World Cup becomes wider when you reach the semi-finals in the European Championship.”

The Danish Football Association (DBU) said on Thursday that FIFA has rejected Denmark’s request to train at the World Cup wearing shirts that read ‘Human rights for all’.

Qatar has come under immense pressure over its treatment of foreign workers and its restrictive social laws, which has led to concerns from many participating teams. The country has denied claims that the workers were exploited.

“It was a decision of FIFA, and they themselves said it was wrong that the World Cup came in Qatar, that’s where the mistake started,” Ericsson said.

“But for us players to be set up as politicians, that is something we will never be. We are footballers who play for national teams that are part of FIFA and FIFA likes to play in Qatar. So Where are the limits and what are the possibilities?” Ericsson asked.

“We are there as footballers and politically, we do what we can. But we can’t do much, we just want to play football.”

Denmark will start their World Cup campaign against Tunisia on 22 November, followed by France four days later and Australia on 30 November.
