Despite Allen’s threat, Unacademy opened learning centers in Kota

Unacademy on Tuesday launched two offline learning centers in Kota, Rajasthan. Kota is the hub of coaching institutes, where lakhs of students preparing for JEE Main, NEET, UPSC, SSC and other entrance exams stay there for their exam preparation. Many traditional institutions, including Allen, are traditional centers there. Unacademy, primarily an ed-tech player, enrolled teachers from institutes based in Kota.

Allen did not like the recruitment of teachers from Kota-based institutions. Recently, the head of Allen Coaching in a video message threatened the teachers to leave the institute saying that he would blacklist them. Talking in Hindi, he said, “The world of shame is over, like the world we are” which can be roughly translated as “Now, the world of complacency is over, we shall be as the world is”.

Mohit Bhargava, Parvez Khan, Insaf Ali, Vijay Kumar Tripathi, Ashish Gupta and other established teachers will be part of the larger faculty team of the centre.

Brajesh Maheshwari, cofounder and director of Allen Career Institute, said that Allen Institute will take action against teachers leaving the company and joining other rival edtech platforms. He added that teachers who left the institute would be blacklisted from working with Allen again. They will not be allowed to join back.

Unacademy Center will offer coaching in NEET-UG, JEE Main and Advanced and Foundation (9-10) courses at its Kota centres. The company aims to enroll 15,000 learners in the first batch in all upcoming Unacademy centers in nine cities namely Kota, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Patna, Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi and Lucknow. These centers will function in hybrid mode by conducting offline classes on few days a week.

Unacademy centers have a multi-functional cafe, a spacious library, and doubt-solving areas with multiple classrooms and functional areas located in the flagship center located in Talwandi circle and 18,000 square feet facility spread over four floors.

Two Unacademy Centers 285-B Talwandi Circle and Road No. 2 Indraprastha Industrial Area and will remain open from 10 am to 8 pm on all seven days, Edtech said.
