Vadodara: MS University Even after two months of the convocation, till now lakhs of rupees have been deposited to the graduates as convocation fees, but so far degree certificates have not been given to the graduates.
Usually, within a few days of the ceremony, the students are handed over their degree certificates. Several student groups have already represented before the university authorities that the university should arrange for physical copies of the degree certificates which the students have not yet received.
Ironically, the details were provided by the university authorities during the recently organized managing committee The meeting reveals that during the last academic year 2020-21, the university had collected Rs 78.61 lakh as convocation fee.
From the academic year 2016-17, the university has collected Rs 3.67 crore as convocation fee from the students. As per the details of the last five years, the university had collected Rs 47.20 lakh in 2016-17. In 2017-18, this amount crossed Rs 85 lakh.
In 2018-19, the amount was Rs 69.76 lakh, followed by Rs 85.62 lakh which was collected as convocation fee in 2019-20.
The university authorities have so far argued that the degree certificates of all the passed out graduates have already been uploaded online. “We are arranging for hard copies which should be available by the end of this month,” an official said.
