Former cricketer Aakash Chopra on Sunday shared a video on Twitter clarifying what Shaheen Shah Afridi had to say in terms of pace and variety of young Indian bowler Umran Malik.
In the past few days, several media reports have claimed that Afridi commented on Malik’s bowling style. It was reported that the Pakistan cricketer said that only pace helps a bowler unless there is a line, a variation of length.
The news triggered a war of words on social media as Indian fans targeted Afridi. However, on Sunday, Chopra shared the video in which it can be seen what was the question and what was Afridi’s answer.
During the press conference ahead of Pakistan’s ODI series against West Indies, a journalist asked, ‘You are in the race to become the number 1 bowler. Do you also have in mind that you bowl fast?
In response to this question, Afridi said, ‘If you don’t have line and length and swing, then speed can’t help you.

In another tweet, Chopra shared a picture which depicts Afridi’s quotes in reference to Umran. Since it was originally shared by a verified Twitter handle, the former India The batsman asked the handle owners to ‘do better’.
Totally taken out of context. Clickbait and deceptive. Hate sells… in every form. Play Not even above that, it seems. you can do better. You should do better. With a large following comes great responsibility. Maybe, stick to memes? at least they can be funny sometimes https://t.co/d3H1rwbPpj

Thus, it is clear that Afridi did not say anything related to Umran, rather he spoke about himself and about fast bowling in general.
In the recently concluded series against Australia, Shaheen Afridi was in fine form and the left-arm pacer is expected to continue his good run. The 22-year-old admitted that hot weather could be a big problem during the series against West Indies.
