did you know A British chef sells Kolkata Jhalmuri on the streets of London

Indian cuisine has entered the global culinary scene with a bang. Now you can find Indian restaurants everywhere where people from all over the world are relishing the taste of desi foods. But there is a British chef who fell in love with a certain Indian dish and started selling it himself. Angus Denoon, a British chef, had come to Kolkata many years ago and Jhalmuri took a liking to him. Jhalmuri is a popular Bengali street food made with puffed rice, spices and sauces, resembling bhel puri. The love for jhalmuri made Denoon open his own jhalmuri food stall in London called Jhalmuri Express.

Jhalmuri, on LinkedIn. “Good to see this foreigner selling the most popular ‘Indian Bhelpuri’ on the streets of United Kingdom,” he wrote in the caption.

“To my non-Indian friends – Bhelpuri It is a delicious breakfast of India, and it is also a type of chaat. It is made of puffed rice, vegetables and a tangy tamarind sauce, and has a crispy texture,” he said.

In another post, he wrote, “Ultimately the excitement and thrill was about a foreigner selling an Indian dish in a typical Indian style in a foreign country.”

In 2019, Angus Denoon caught the attention of Indians when he was seen selling jhalmuri by cricket fans during the India vs Australia World Cup match in London. The fact that he follows the distinctive style of serving jhalmuri in a cone made of paper torn from a magazine has won hearts.
