Diesel price in Guwahati rose by 8 in a month, near century Guwahati News – Times of India

GUWAHATI: After petrol, now the diesel price per liter in Guwahati is set to cross the Rs 100 mark, after witnessing a hike of Rs 8.37 in just 30 days – from October 1 to October 31.
Diesel, which was sold at Rs 89.61 per liter on October 1, stood at Rs 97.98 per liter on Sunday, after a fresh hike of Rs 0.37 per litre. The price has gone up to Rs 99 in some parts of the state including Dibrugarh district.
Meanwhile, petrol price on Sunday stood at Rs 105.37 per liter after a hike of 36 paise. Petrol, which was sold on October 1 for Rs 97.77, saw a price increase of Rs 7.6 in the last 30 days.
The parallel surge in the prices of fuel, essential commodities and cooking gas has burned a hole in the pockets of the common people, whose monthly budget is already under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Senior Congress leader Devvrat Saikia, Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Assembly, said: “This government has failed to curb the rise in not only fuel prices, but also LPG cylinders and cooking essentials for the poor section of the society. The prices of cooking gas and fuel are increasing continuously. Congress is continuously raising its voice against inflation and protesting. But the government has not paid any attention to the concerns of the common people.
People in the “below poverty line” category are the worst sufferers of the continuous rise in the prices of essential commodities, mainly due to the steady rise in the prices of petrol and diesel.
