Diesel prices hiked for the second consecutive day

According to the price notification of state-owned fuel retailers, the price of diesel went up to Rs 89.32 per liter in Delhi and Rs 96.94 in Mumbai; Petrol price did not change

Diesel price was hiked by 25 paise a liter on September 27 – the third time rates have been hiked since the previous week, negating the more than half the fall in prices in recent weeks.

According to the price notification of the state-owned fuel retailers, the price of diesel was reduced to Rs 89.32 per liter in Delhi and Rs 96.94 in Mumbai.

The price of petrol did not change. It costs ₹101.19 per liter in Delhi and ₹107.26 in Mumbai.

This is the second consecutive day of hike in diesel prices and the third day since September 24 when state-owned oil companies ended a three-week hiatus in rates.

Overall, diesel prices have gone up by 70 paise per liter, negating more than half of the Rs 1.25 per liter cut that took place between July 18 and September 5.

The price hike follows the highest increase in international oil prices since 2018.

State-owned Indian Oil Corp (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) had resumed daily price revision on September 24, ending the stagnation in rates affected from September 5. Was.

When international oil rates fell in July and August, retail prices of petrol and diesel were reduced by ₹0.65 per liter and ₹1.25 per liter in the Delhi market.

Earlier, the price of petrol was increased by Rs 11.44 per liter between May 4 and July 17. The rate of diesel was increased by Rs 9.14 during this period.

Price hikes during this period pushed petrol prices above Rs 100 a liter in more than half of the country, while diesel crossed that level in at least three states.

India is dependent on imports to meet about 85% of its oil needs and therefore benchmarks local fuel rates to international oil prices.
