Digvijay seeks ‘proof’ of surgical strike on BJP offensive, Congress says ‘personal view’

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has again questioned the authenticity of the 2016 surgical strikes during the Jammu leg of the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. However, his party distanced itself from the statement after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came down heavily on the Congress.

The government said at the time that these attacks were carried out as a feedback For Pulwama terror attack. However, Pakistan denied it.

“They (central government) talk about surgical strikes and they have killed many of them but there is no proof. They are ruling by spreading a web of lies.

After the speech, he posted a video on his Twitter account detailing his concerns.

“Where did the terrorist get 300 kg RDX in Pulwama incident? Devendra Singh DSP was caught with terrorists but then why was he released? We also want to know about the friendship between the Prime Minister of Pakistan and India asked in the follow up video.

After Singh’s statement, the BJP lashed out at the Congress.

“The claim of uniting people and spreading love and peace during Rahul Gandhi’s visit is an act in name, but the real motive is to break India. Digvijaya Singh’s statements are an example of the same and the language used by Singh shows that this is a Break India journey,” the BJP said in a statement.

BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya said Singh was “speaking the language of Pakistan’s deep state”.

Former Congress leader Jaiveer Shergill, who joined the BJP last year, said that “taking sides of the enemy” had become a “symptom” of the Congress.

Former Jammu and Kashmir DGP Shesh Paul Vaid also pulled up Digvijay for his comments.

The Congress has distanced itself from Digvijay’s statement.

“The views expressed by senior leader Digvijaya Singh are his own and do not reflect the position of the Congress. Before 2014, UPA government had done surgical strike. The Congress has supported and will continue to support all military actions in the national interest,” said Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary communications.

the past turns upside down

This is not the first battle of the Congress with this line of question. The opposition’s attempt to seek ‘proof’ of the surgical strike has backfired in the past as well.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal did the same in 2016. asked For “evidence” of attacks. Kejriwal finally had to clarify that it had sought evidence to refute Pakistan’s claim that no such attack had taken place.

In the same year, Digvijaya and his Congress colleagues P. Chidambaram and Sanjay Nirupam also demanded proof of surgical strike Nirupam even termed the attacks as ‘fake’. The Congress at that time distanced itself from Nirupam’s comments, but did not specifically say anything about the other two leaders.

The then Union Minister Uma Bharti had said that those leaders who say that if Pakistan is asking for proof of surgical strikes, they should be given proof, such people should take Pakistan’s citizenship. Told those days.
