Rohit mentioned that he wanted to instill a sense of “security” in the team, which is why the squad for the two T20I series (Australia and South Africa) was announced ahead of the World Cup squad.
Barring the fast trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh, who will be rested during the six matches, the captain feels the boys can expand their range in these games.

“In these six games, we want to keep trying what we can achieve with different styles. It’s all about trying to find ways to go out and explore yourself but there are no limits to trying new things. You can push yourself in so many directions to achieve a lot of things for the team,” said the captain.
‘Aggression mixed with caution is attitude’
Last year’s disastrous T20 World Cup campaign would still be fresh in the mind of the Indian team, and thus Rohit reiterated that the team would approach each game with an aggressive mindset, while underlining the importance of a “second line of defence” for casualties.
“We will continue to play like this. This is something that we said quite clearly at the beginning of our (captaincy stint) and everyone is comfortable with that. Plus we also know our second line of defense when we get into trouble. We spend a lot of time talking about these things. Friends, it is very clear how we should bat if we score 10 runs for three wickets. What do we need to bat if we score 50 runs without any loss. These have been discussed in detail, it is about to be implemented now,” he said.
“This approach of ours has given us a lot of confidence that we can go out and play like this. This is a great sign. After these six matches, we will have another review meeting of the last 10 months and see what we need to do in the World Cup.
