Diwali 2021: The battle is on – which is better, Son Papdi or Kaju Katli?

Diwali has arrived and, as happens at the festival every year, there is a huge debate about which sweet is the best. Son Papdi and Kaju Kati seems to have split on Twitter over which is the best Diwali cheer for 2021.

Soan papdi (also known as patisa, san papdi, sohan papdi or shon papdi) is a popular Indian dessert. It is usually cube-shaped or served as flakes, and has a crisp and flaky texture. It was traditionally sold in a rolled-up paper cone, but modern industrial production has led to it being sold in tightly formed cubes.

Whereas kaju katli (literally “cashew piece”), also known as kaju barfi, is an Indian dessert similar to barfi. Cashew means cashew; Barfi is often, but not always, made by condensing milk with sugar and other ingredients (such as dry fruits and mild spices). Kesar Kaju Katli is a Kaju Katli recipe which also contains saffron.

Some of these are in the tweets below.

– The person did not get the box of Soan Papdi, refused to accept Diwali

– The face weeping loudly surrounded by Son Papdi all around

– had to be. I thought I survived this year but I don’t think so. Happy Son Papdi Day, India!
