Addressing troops on the occasion of Diwali at Nowshera, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to boost indigenous capabilities and said that modern border infrastructure has been created to enhance connectivity and deployment of troops.
“I have spent every Diwali with the soldiers guarding our borders. Today I bring here with me the blessings of crores of Indians for our soldiers.” PM Modi said.
“Our soldiers are the ‘protection shield’ of ‘Maa Bharati’. It is because of all of you that the people of our country are able to sleep peacefully and live happily during festivals,” he said.
Appreciating the efforts of the jawans in the surgical strike, the Prime Minister said that there were many attempts to spread terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir but they were given a befitting reply.
“The role played by this brigade during the surgical strike fills everyone with pride. I will remember that day forever as it was decided that all the soldiers would return before sunset… I sat by the phone and was asking about the whereabouts of every soldier,” he said.
PM Modi further said that the border, coastal areas lacking normal connectivity now have roads, optical fiber which in turn enhances deployment capabilities, facilities for soldiers.
“Earlier, procurement of defense equipment for the security forces used to take years at once. Commitment to self-reliance in the defense sector is the only way to change the old ways. We have to transform our military capabilities, change the world and the world of war. mode,” he said.
The Prime Minister also interacted with the soldiers and distributed sweets among them.
