After taking a 3-0 lead in the first set, Djokovic closed it in 36 minutes and kept the pressure on in the second set. They got the crucial break 3-2 and won after an hour and 20 minutes.
Djokovic sent down 16 winners while he did not suffer a break point from Harkaz, extending his perfect record against pole to 4–0.
“I think both of us didn’t play that well in the first set, it took us time to adapt to the conditions,” Djokovic said. “Second set, better quality tennis I think. I was serving really well. I’m happy with the way I was making the point.”
Djokovic will face the winner of the match between the world number four player Rafael Nadal And Carlos AlcarazuWhich takes place later on Friday, for a place in the final.
“They are the two best players this year, which is their result,” Djokovic said. “Rafa has been playing well, didn’t seem to be bothering him in the last few games… He’s very close to his best.
“And Carlos too, I mean he’s living the dream, isn’t he? He’s playing amazing tennis and he’s improved a lot … It’s going to be a good match.”
