Djokovic says he will not play US Open due to lack of covid vaccination

Former men’s world number one Novak Djokovic has said that he will not play at the US Open which begins on Monday as Covid protocols mean he cannot travel to the United States.

It is the second Grand Slam that the 35-year-old Serb will miss for not being vaccinated as he was relegated ahead of the Australian Open earlier this year.

Djokovic, the three-time US Open champion, tweeted: “Sadly I won’t be able to go to New York this time for the US Open.”
