Doctors’ strike from today, know what they are opposing

resident doctor India They have called for a nationwide strike from today, November 27. He has decided to withdraw from outpatient department (OPD) services. The Federation of Resident Doctors Association India had called for the strike on 27 November saying, “The Responsibility for an unfortunate situation affecting health services It will be on the concerned authorities.”

Doctors are opposing the delay in NEET PG counseling and admission. NEET PG is a postgraduate level examination in which existing doctors participate to pursue postgraduate level education. The resident doctors who appeared for the exam are waiting for the counseling through which admission is given. Earlier the counseling was scheduled to start from October 25, however it was put on hold due to the order of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court is hearing a petition related to EWS quota in medical college admissions. The central government has reserved 10 percent seats in medical colleges for students belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category. However, the SC has expressed doubts over the Rs 8 lakh limit set by the government for deciding EWS candidates.

Now, Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General of India told the Supreme Court that Government will form a committee and will take a new decision within four weeks, Till then the counseling gets delayed. Resident doctors can expect a delay in counseling till January.

If the limit is changed, it will mean that more or less students will be eligible to avail the newly introduced quota. Modi Government has introduced 10 percent reservation in medical colleges For students from economically weaker sections of the society. Till the matter is decided, the counseling process and subsequent admissions for medical colleges will remain closed.

Doctors claim that they are “already overburdened and tired” and the delay in the already delayed consultation process has affected them. “There is no respite from his physical and mental distress,” Forda said in her statement.
