The incident took place in the ground floor flat at 7.45 pm on Tuesday. Parasnath Bhawan, The flat belongs to Manisha Morvekar (60).
The fire official said, “The blast was so severe that two windows of the house were broken and some part of three houses got damaged. Two people – Urshila Lodhia (40) and her son Riyansh (5) – who were climbing the stairs of the building , they were injured too.”
Fire brigade team and police reached the spot. The injured have been taken to the hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
Police said Manisha suffered over 30% burns, while Urshila also suffered 15% burns, while Riyansh suffered a fractured leg.
KDMC Chief Fire Officer Namdev Choudhary said, “Prima facie, it reveals a leak in the gas cylinder which led to the explosion in which three were injured.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took cognizance of the incident.
Shiv Sena leader and former standing committee chairman of KDMC Dipesh Mahatre told TOI, “Chief Minister Eknath Shinde personally called me and asked to take care of the injured, he will personally bear the hospital expenses of the three injured. ”
Mahatre also visited AIIMS Hospital dombivli and paid the hospital deposit of the injured Manisha, and assured the victims that CM Sir has assured to bear the cost of their treatment.
