‘Don’t take my name with you’: Rahul Gandhi’s 3 tough advice to party members

Congress MP from Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi, who is currently on the Rajasthan leg of his Bharat Jodi Yatra, released a message to his party workers in a video titled ‘The goal is in front, don’t look back’. (Destination is in front, don’t look back).

Rahul Gandhi He was addressing a rally in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, when he made three suggestions – two drastic, and one not so much. Gandhi urged his party workers not to indulge in sycophancy or rest on past laurels.

On Friday, 16th December, ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ will enter its 100th day.

The suggestion given by Rahul Gandhi included not to ‘compare him with Mahatma Gandhi’. “This is absolutely wrong. We are not in the same league and there should be no comparison” Rahul Gandhi said.

“Don’t say my name Gandhiji. dotasraji (Govind Singh Dotasara) compared me with Mahatma Gandhi. This is almost certainly false. His position is elsewhere and mine is different. There should be no comparison. He was a pious person. He sacrificed his whole life for the freedom movement and remained in jail for 10-12 years. No one can take that position and there should be no comparison. This is the first point”, Rahul Gandhi said.

Gandhi then said, he had a difficult message. “The second thing I want to say is a bit difficult,” reiterated Rahul Gandhi.

“What Rajiv Gandhi And Indira Gandhi did, she was martyred, she did well. But Congress should not focus on this in every meeting. Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, they did whatever they could. He has done his part. We should focus on what we are going to do. It is better to think about what we are doing for the people.”

Congress workers should now talk about what they can do for the people and that is more important, said Rahul Gandhi’s third advice. “Whatever thoughts come to my mind, I express myself. I am sorry,” Rahul Gandhi said as he began his speech, in which he criticized the BJP government for mismanaged GST, demonetisation, among others.

“Half of India’s wealth is concentrated in the hands of 100 people. And the country is being run for these 100 people. Out of these 100 people, there are 4 to 5 who can be called Maharajas because every institution works for them. Prime Minister Narendra Modi works for them,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Meanwhile, former Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan has said that he believes the country will be lucky if it achieves 5 per cent growth next year.

The former governor also said that the next year is going to be even more difficult. He said, “Of course, it had a lot of difficulties with the war and everything else. Growth is slowing down in the world. People are raising interest rates which bring growth down.”

Speaking with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the former governor of the Reserve Bank of India said, “India is also going to get hit. India’s interest rates have also gone up, but Indian exports have slowed down significantly.”

In a candid conversation with Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, he said, “India’s inflation problem is more about commodities inflation problem, vegetables inflation problem. That too is going to be negative for growth.”
