The driver saved more than 30 passengers when the rear side of the bus caught fire in Hubli on Saturday night.

A private bus going from Pune to Udupi caught fire near Karwar Road Crossing on Hubli-Dharwad bypass after its rear wheel came loose after tube burst. As soon as the fire broke out, the driver immediately stopped the bus.

Staff at Reshma Travels in Hubli told police that the passengers were woken up by the driver at around 2.45 am and asked to get down with or without luggage.

Within 15 minutes, the entire bus caught fire. However, all the passengers were rescued, a police officer said. A case has been registered at Old Hubli police station.
