New Year celebrations in the United Arab Emirates saw a dazzling 12-minute display of over 670 drones choreographed to electric beats.

What better way to welcome 2023 than with fireworks lighting up the sky all night long? The UAE did exactly the right thing and created a new Guinness world record for the same. A 12-minute display of over 670 drones choreographed to electric beats marked New Year’s celebrations in the United Arab Emirates. It covered a total coastline of 4.7 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1,100 metres. This was accompanied by a pyro-musical show with kaleidoscopic explosions of nano lights and colours. Videos of the same are now doing the rounds on social media and have left netizens completely stunned.

Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. World’s biggest fireworks display with 670 drones. A 12-minute display of over 670 drones, covering 4.7 kilometers of coastline and reaching an altitude of 1,100 metres, creates two new Guinness World Records,” wrote a Twitter user.

Raki Phillips, chief executive officer of the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, said in a press release, “Ras Al Khaimah has once again proven its position as a leading tourism destination that welcomes people from all over the world. Not only have we scored two new Guinness World Record titles for our #RAKNYE2023 celebrations, but we’ve also given thousands of visitors and residents a New Year’s Eve show they’ll never forget. It’s been an extremely exciting and busy year for us off to a great start, as we continue to position Ras Al Khaimah as a must-visit destination for 2023.”

The festival broke two Guinness World Records. The first was for the number of drones launched simultaneously. The previous world record was of 458 drones. The second was for the largest aerial sentence formed by a drone.

The celebrations included revelers of all ages as part of a family-oriented festival in Al Marjan Island. The dazzling fireworks show was also visible from several hotels lined up from Al Marjan Island to Al Hamra, while several thousand others followed the ceremony live on raknye.com. The festival attracted over 30,000 visitors and fully booked hotels across the emirate, making it the most watched show ever.
