DU: Admission policy for 2022-23 released, CUET mandatory details here

Admission to the university will be through a common examination which has been made mandatory for admission to 45 central universities in the country. Till last year, entering Delhi University The cut-off was on the basis of marks in class 12 board exam.

Singh also said that the School of Open Learning and the National Board of Collegiate Women’s Education have been exempted from this.

Describing the new admission policy as a landmark policy, Singh said that admission to all undergraduate programs would be through CUET only.

“It is mandatory for all the candidates to appear in CUET-2022, including those seeking admission in additional seats. The eligibility will be decided on the basis of marks obtained in the criteria. CUET,” he told.

Singh said that out of the 50% seats reserved for minority colleges, 85% marks will be taken from CUET and the remaining 15% will be decided by the colleges.

He said that the admission to 50% of the non-reserved seats will be purely on the basis of CUET.

In minority colleges like Jesus and Mary, St. Stephens and Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa 50% seats are reserved for minority communities.

Hanit Gandhi, Dean (Admissions) said that candidates will be able to appear for CUET in only those subjects which they have studied in class 12. Merit will also be calculated only on the basis of combination of subjects in which the candidate has appeared in CUET, she said.

Gandhi said that no one would be harmed by changing the stream.

There are three sections in CUET-2022. He said that the first section is divided into two parts and there are 13 languages ​​in the first part and 20 languages ​​in the second part.

“Combined of these two parts, it is mandatory for candidates to appear in at least one language for admission to Delhi University. The second section of the entrance test consists of 27 domain specific subjects. The third section is based on general knowledge. Only for admission to BA programmes,” Gandhi said.

He said that for admission in most of the programs of Delhi University, a candidate has to select at least three subjects from the second section, which are domain specific subjects.

The second section is classified as two lists B1 and B2. Candidates have to select the subjects appropriately so that not more than one subject is selected at a time.

Gandhi said eligibility for admission to most BSc courses would be calculated on the basis of physics, chemistry, mathematics or biology. He said that it is mandatory to secure at least 30 per cent marks in any one language in CUET.

For admission to Bachelor of Arts, a candidate will have to appear in an entrance test in any one language from section one and from section other in any three subjects. Merit will be calculated on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in the same subject and language.

For admission to BA (Hons) Economics, it is mandatory for the candidates to appear in Mathematics test in CUET. Gandhi said that for this the merit will be calculated on the basis of the marks obtained in the chosen language, mathematics and any two subjects.

A candidate can appear for CUET in a maximum of six subjects out of which one should be a language subject.

“Just as when we had the cut-off, we used to take the best score out of four subjects, similarly, here we will take into account the best score of CUET for admission in Delhi University.”

BBA, BMS and BBE candidates will have to appear in any one language, Mathematics and as per Section 3 of CUET. BA, B. For Voc and B.Com programs (popularly known as “pass” courses), candidates have a domain specific subject and the choice of a language with a general exam or a three-subject test.

For admission to linguistic programmes, candidates can choose a particular language in CUET or take the test in any other language.

“However, preference will be given to those appearing in the particular language. Centralized e-consultation will be done after the test,” Gandhi said.

After the declaration of CUET result, the e-counseling will be done by the university.

Vice Chancellor Singh said that before each counseling the candidate will be given a chance to re-fill his choice.

While there are likely to be three rounds of counselling, the third will be a spot round, he added, adding that things will become clear once the results are declared.

Gandhi said the university’s admissions website, which will have examples, will go live on Wednesday.

He informed that chatbots will also work to help the candidates for any information related to Delhi University.

“There will be a provision of help desk to assist the candidates in the selection of question papers and open houses and webinars will also be organized to help the candidates,” he said.

Admission to School of Open Learning (SOL) and Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) will be on merit basis.

The registration process for admission to SOL and NCWEB will start from May 6.
