‘Dunky’ DOP Amit Roy: Shah Rukh Khan is a gentleman to join my exchange with Raju Hirani – Exclusive – Times of India

ETimes was the first to tell you that DOP Amit Roy Shahrukh Khan And Raju Hirani’s Dinky left the film due to creative differences with the filmmaker. We reached out to him again, to ask if he was ready to speak about his decision and what prompted him to opt out of the film. Amit commented, “I shot for 19-20 days. I think our sensibility didn’t match in terms of creativity. We couldn’t get on the same page though we tried hard. It got to that point.” Went to the point where I thought friction would keep building up and our relationship would get worse. If we both don’t agree on the same thing, it will be a problem for the film.”

Read yesterday’s exclusive story below:

Amit had yesterday revealed that he had amicably parted ways with Hirani’s film. He continued with his stand and said, “I have been a well-wisher of the film and have been invested in it since pre-production for a year or so. I wanted the best for the film so I thought I should leave.” And luckily Murali sir (DOP CK Muraleedharan) was ready to step in. It was an amicable decision.”

ETimes asked Amit if the film’s star Shah Rukh Khan tried to fix things between him and Raju Hirani. Amit replied, “It was a matter between a director and the DOP. Shahrukh Khan It’s a lot of gentleness to get into that relationship anyway. Neither he would have asked Raju sir to shoot with me nor would he have any other opinion on it. He was not a factor in my decision.”

After leaving Dunki, Amit has moved to Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal with director Sandeep Vanga Reddy. He revealed, “I am shooting for Animal with Sandeep Reddy Vanga. He is a visionary director. He comes from the Ram Gopal Varma school of filmmaking, so I am enjoying it.” Signing off, Amit clarified, “There was no conflict between Dunkie and Animal.”
