Eight terrorists convicted in Bodh Gaya blast case Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Special Court of National Investigation Agency (NIA) Patna Eight of the nine Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorists were on Friday convicted after admitting their involvement in the 2018 Bodh Gaya blast.
The special NIA court of ADJ-XV Gurvinder Singh Malhotra will pronounce the quantum of punishment to the eight convicts on December 17.
This is the first NIA case in Bihar in which the accused have admitted their involvement in the crime in court.
Those convicted on the basis of their confessions on Friday included Ahmed Ali alias Kalu, Noor Alam Momin, Mohammad Adil Sheikh, Abdul Karim, Mustafizur Rahman, Arif Hussain, Mohammad Prophet Sheikh and Dilawar Hussain.
The ninth accused, Mohammad Jehidul Islam, a Bangladeshi national with links to the JMB, has not yet filed a confession in the court.
Special Public Prosecutor (NIA) Lallan Prasad Sinha told this newspaper over phone that the lawyers of the eight terrorists once again submitted before the court on Friday that their clients were admitting their involvement in the blast.
“The eight terrorists have been convicted under sections 121, 121A and 123 of the Indian Penal Code, the Explosive Substances Act, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and other relevant laws,” Sinha said.
Six of the nine accused had admitted their involvement in the crime by filing a joint petition in the special NIA court on October 22 this year.
