Election Commissioner reviews the preparations for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections

A team of Election Commission of India led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar held a meeting with the concerned officials in Gujarat on Monday to review the preparations for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections.

Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anupchandra Pandey held a meeting in Gandhinagar on Monday.

The Election Commission team will meet the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) of the state on Tuesday.

During its two-day visit, the Election Commission team reviewed the ongoing preparations for the elections after receiving detailed information about the law and order situation in the district from the District Election Officers, Range IG, DIG and District Police Chief of 33 districts of the state. ,

All the District Election Officers and District Police Chiefs gave district wise presentation and informed about the pre-poll preparations in their district. During the visit, the team along with the officials of the Election Commission also met leaders of political parties.

To ensure peaceful and phased elections in the state, the Election Commission is taking note of all the preparations made by the district administration and enforcement agencies and also pointing out the lapses that need to be addressed.

In this way, after a comprehensive review of the pre-poll preparations in the entire state, the detailed schedule of the upcoming assembly elections will be announced.

Election Commission of India also launched a video of c-Vigil application during the review meeting in Gandhinagar. cVigil App.

Launched by the Election Commission of India, the app provides time-stamped and evidence-based proof of model code of conduct. The application also provides live photos/videos with auto location data. Anyone who finds any discrepancy regarding the election preparations or conduct of the party can make a complaint through this application. Thereafter the matter will be reviewed by the flying squad.

Meanwhile, the parties involved in the upcoming assembly elections have already started throwing mud at each other on several issues. There are frequent visits, meetings and rallies of various parties to entice citizens to vote for their candidate.

In 2017, the Congress gave a tough fight to the BJP by limiting its MLAs to 99 and winning 77 seats on its own. There are 182 assembly seats in Gujarat. Aam Aadmi Party is also trying its best to gain land in Gujarat in the upcoming assembly elections.
