An elephant killed its mahout on Wednesday at Manissery in Ottapalam.
Vinod Kalampadi, 30, of Pathiripala, the chief mahout of Kodungallur’s elephant Muthakunnam Padmanabhan, was attacked by a tusker in the morning while giving medicine.
The elephant hit Vinod with its teeth. Although he was taken to the hospital, he soon died due to internal bleeding.
The elephant had a wound on its leg and is being treated. Vinod has been Padmanabhan’s mahout for more than three years.
