Elon Musk asks judge to start Twitter trial on October 17

Wilmington, Dell: Elon Musk asked a judge to schedule a five-day trial beginning October 17, as requested by Twitter Inc., and not October 10, to acquire the social media platform for his $44 Billion to resolve its bid to walk away from the deal, according to a court filing on Tuesday.

A lawyer for Musk, the world’s richest man, said he was writing to the judge to “let things proceed immediately to break the impasse.”

Twitter declined to comment.

Chief Justice Chancellor Kathleen McCormick of the Delaware Court of Chancery last week ordered the October trial, which promises to be one of Wall Street’s biggest legal fights in years. However, he left it to the parties to decide the exact schedule.

Musk, who is the chief executive officer of electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc., requested a February trial, which he said was given the time he needed to thoroughly investigate fake accounts on Twitter. He said the company misrepresented its user numbers and therefore violated the merger agreement, which allowed them to walk away.

The company, which requested a September trial, said the fake account issue was a distraction and that the terms of the deal would require Musk to pay.

Musk’s letter also asks the judge to immediately order Twitter to present a “key document” that requires Twitter to produce all raw data by August 1 and within 18 days of the request to the company. documents need to be produced.
