Elon Musk Says Twitter Will Enable Organizations To Identify People Connected To Them

Washington: To tackle the rise of fake accounts, Twitter CEO Elon Musk has announced that organizations on the micro-blogging platform will soon be able to trace Twitter accounts linked to them. He also apologized for the app being “super slow in many countries”.

Musk took to Twitter on Sunday and, without posting much, said, “Starting soon, Twitter will enable organizations to identify exactly which other Twitter accounts are linked to them.”

In the next tweet, the richest man on the planet apologized for the slowness of Twitter in several countries, writing, “BTW, I want to apologize for Twitter being super slow in many countries. The app is only able to render the home timeline. doing bad batch RPC for you!”

Since completing the Twitter deal, Musk has made a flurry of decisions aimed at tackling fake accounts on Twitter, which has millions of daily active users.

Recently, after launching the USD 7.99 Twitter Blue subscription service for iOS users, which allowed them to get a blue verification tick on their profiles, Twitter made it unavailable as many users have signed up for brands, celebrities and even that bought Verification to impersonate fictional characters like Mario.

According to The Verge, in an effort to counteract the increase in fake accounts, Twitter launched a new verification badge, a gray tick designating accounts as “official”. Within a few days, the company introduced the feature and then withdrew it before introducing it again.

Also, many people did not like Musk’s decision to implement the blue tick fee. Even some advertisers pulled their foot off the site and celebrities including Whoopi Goldberg and Gigi Hadid left Twitter in the days following its acquisition. (ANI)
