Emergency landing of chopper carrying Karnataka Congress president

Congress Karnataka unit president DK Shivakumar’s helicopter made an emergency landing at the HAL airport on Tuesday afternoon after the kite hit the glass of the cockpit.

The Congress leader was on his way to Mulbagal in Kolar district to attend a public meeting.

Sources close to Mr Shivakumar told PTI that the chopper had taken off from the Jakkur airport in Bengaluru but was hit by a kite.

The glass shattered into pieces during the collision. The chopper had to make an emergency landing at HAL airport.

A reporter from a Kannada news channel, who was interviewing him, was inside the helicopter, along with DK Shivakumar and the pilot.

He said Mr Shivakumar, the crew and all others in the helicopter were safe.
