TV Mohandas Pai inducted into Hall of Fame at World Konkani Center

Mohandas Pai, President, Ariane Capital and Manipal Global Education TV, said on Thursday that the World Konkani Center will help the youth of the community and empower them to be the pioneers promoting the community’s rich heritage for generations to come.

He was speaking virtually at the two-day decennial function of the TV Raman Pai and T. Vimala Pai hostels at the center’s Shaktinagar campus here. Mr Pai said that several programs launched by the Center will ensure that the community not only works for its nation, but also for the state and city where it has made its presence felt.

Mr Pai said the Konkani speaking community was small globally, with estimates at 20 lakh. With the decline in the number of speakers of the language, the role of the World Konkani Center in promoting the language became even more important. Vishwa Konkani Students Scholarship Fund was started to help every deserving student to get quality education and empowering them has brought desired results.

The World Konkani Students Scholarship Fund Alumni Association was established to train future generations of leaders of the Konkani speaking community.

The Vishwa Konkani Center will also act as a rallying point for Kharvi, Kudubi and Siddi communities, who share Konkani ancestry, Mr. Pai said.

Inaugurating the decadal celebrations, Ullas Kamath, Joint MD, Jyothi Laboratories said that the hostel helped realize Sri Pai’s vision for a strong Konkani community by 2030. He urged the Konkani youth to make optimum use of the various training provided to them in world Konkani. Center. He said that the fact that the hostel is also serving as a training center for other underprivileged youth is exemplary.

On the occasion, Mr. Pai was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the World Konkani Center by Mr. Kamath and others.
