Trent Boult New Zealand shattered England’s top order on the second day of the third Test at Headingley in Leeds. After the Kiwis were bundled out for 329 in the first innings, Trent Boult took three wickets as England rolled 55 for six. In addition to bolts, Neil Wagner took two wickets Tim Southee One was crushed.
However, England came back strongly in the final session of the day, largely to the credit of Jonny Bairstow And Jamie Overton made an unbeaten partnership for the seventh wicket.
Bairstow and Overton added 209 not out for the seventh wicket as England finished the second day on 264/6, leaving New Zealand behind by just 65 runs.
Bairstow (130 not out off 126) took just 95 deliveries to score his 10th Test century. He also scored a century in the last Test at Nottingham.
Overton, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 89 and would look to score his maiden century when play resumes on the third day.
