Ensure quality power supply to industries at reasonable rates: Finance Minister to state governments – Times of India

Chennai: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman On Tuesday, he appealed to states to build infrastructure and do “energy planning” to ensure uninterrupted, quality power supply at reasonable rates to industries so that they can grow their business.
At an event here, he said the Center will extend its full support to help states build necessary infrastructure and this does not pertain to Tamil Nadu but to other people as well.
Referring to his budget announcement of allocating Rs 7.50 lakh crore to the infrastructure sector in the country, he said this is higher than the Rs 5.50 lakh crore allocated last year.
He said, “My appeal to the states is to ensure electricity and make it available 24 hours, 365 days a day at reasonable rates. Industries should get quality power…”
Sitharaman said that every stakeholder should work towards ensuring uninterrupted Power Supply So that there is no ‘shortage of electricity’ as it is a major obstacle for the development of the industry.
The Finance Minister was speaking at a stakeholder outreach event organized by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade on the occasion of India’s signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the United Arab Emirates and an Economic Cooperation Trade Agreement (ECTA) with Australia.
