The Sei Sanjeevani Cerebral Palsy Care Center in Chennai is a rehabilitation center for children with cerebral palsy, and aims to provide free physical therapy and rehabilitation. Last weekend, the institution organized a sports day which proved to be a fun experience for the kids and their parents.
“The idea of organizing a sports day was to involve children and their parents in activities that they would enjoy doing together. All activities require them to work on a physical function that they have been working on during their rehabilitation sessions,” says Vijaya Ravi, who founded the center in 2019 and is its CEO and trustee.
Vijaya says that children with cerebral palsy only have motor dysfunction, and they do not lack intelligence. They believe that timely rehabilitation and training can send them to a regular school. The center provides physical training for children in the age group of three to eight years. Vijaya says, “Events like these enable parents to build social engagement and a supportive community with other parents, besides allowing these children to showcase their newly acquired skills to their parents and peers. get the opportunity.”
