Erode District Election Officer and Collector H. Krishnanunni has said that the returning officers will visit the residences of voters who have opted for postal ballot on February 16 and 17 to collect postal ballots.

A press release states that voting for upcoming by-elections February 27 is scheduled for Erode (East) Assembly Constituency and voters above 80 years of age, persons with disabilities, who have COVID-19 and have symptoms, Postal ballot allowed, They were asked to express their wish and submit a filled Form 12D to their respective polling station authorities by February 4.

The officials will now visit the residential address given in Form 12D on February 16 and 17, during which the elector can cast his vote. “If the voter is not available during the first visit of the officials, he will be given a last chance and the officials will visit his residence on February 20,” the press release said.

Mr. Krishnanunni said that voters who had opted for postal voting but failed to cast their vote during the visit of the officials would not be allowed to cast their vote at their respective polling stations on the day of polling on February 27.
