Hitting out at the Congress, Mr Eshwarappa termed it as the “manifesto of the Muslim League” (of which Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, was the leading figure). By assuring to ban Bajrang Dal, Congress is hurting the sentiments of the people. Also, it has rekindled the self-pride of Hindus, he said.

Mr Eshwarappa accused KPCC President DK Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of polarizing the people of the state on communal lines due to selfish interests and hunger for power. Now the public has started knowing the words of the Congress and their mind. [voters] He said that he will teach a lesson to the party in this election.

Describing Bajrang Dal as a patriotic organization, he appealed to the people to condemn the anti-national manifesto of the Congress.

Kharge’s response

Meanwhile, hitting back at Mr. Eshwarappa, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge said that by burning a copy of the manifesto, Mr. Eshwarappa has insulted the people.

Condemning the incident of election manifesto burning, Shri Kharge said that in a democracy, whether you like it or not, it is not proper to burn the manifesto. He said that the burning of the manifesto meant that Mr. Eshwarappa flouted the assurances of guarantee schemes given to the people by the Congress. He said that there should be tolerance in a democracy.

Responding to a question, Kharge said the proposal to ban Bajrang Dal would be clarified by manifesto committee chairman G Parameshwara, KPCC president DK Shivakumar and party’s Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala.
