Kemar Roof hit in extra time as Rangers reached the Europa League semi-finals after beating nine-man Braga 3-1 (3-2 on aggregate) on Thursday to meet with RB Leipzig.

Rangers, trailing 1-0 from the first leg when full back James Tavernier put them ahead in the second minute, slipped over the back post to connect with Joe Areibo.

An attempt for the Scottish side near Roof was denied, but a minute before the break, Braga’s Vitor Tormena was ruled to bring Kemar Roof down inside the box and French referee François Latexier sent off the defender. Gave and awarded punishment.

Tavernier kept his cool and drew a spot-kick 2-0 on the night and 2-1 at the break.

Roof was denied another attempt, but Rangers paid the price for his lack of sharpness in front of goal seven minutes before the end of regulation time, when David Carmo went head-on into a corner.

In the 11th minute of the extra period, however, Roof sealed the contest, giving home a short cross from an excellent aribo.

Yuri Medeiros was sent off by Braga after being booked for a late challenge and re-dissent on Leon Balogun.
