Eurosport, JioTV acquire broadcast rights for AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022

New Delhi: Eurosport India by Discovery Network and Jio TV Network has acquired the broadcast rights for the quadrangular international football tournament AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022, which will be held from January 20 to February 6. Eurosport India will broadcast the tournament on television and Jio TV will stream the tournament’s matches on its online platform and on its network.

This will be the 20th edition of the Cup and will be held at three venues in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune, with 12 teams divided into three groups. Hosts India are placed in Group A along with China PR, Taiwan and IR Iran.

Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), which currently holds the media rights for all Asian Football Confederation (AFC) competitions in the Indian subcontinent, has awarded PayTV broadcasting rights to Eurosport India.

Group A consists of India, China PR, Chinese Taipei and IR Iran, while Group B consists of Australia, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia. Meanwhile, Japan, Republic of Korea, Vietnam and Myanmar have been placed in Group C.

The tournament will serve as the final stage of Asian qualification for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Australia has already qualified as co-hosts, with five more teams qualifying directly for the main event, while two of them advance to the Inter-Confederation play-offs.

Earlier, Eurosport India had shown matches of the Indian men’s national team during the FIFA Friendly and South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) championships. He also telecasted the inaugural season of Hero Futsal Club Championship.
