By now we are all aware of Korean people’s obsession towards healthy and glowing skin. Achieving this is not an easy task and for this a lot of rules have to be followed. We all have grown up following the three phases of skin care- which are cleansing, toning and moisturizing. But there is more to it including essences, sheet masks and serums. We have listed a 10-step skin care routine followed by Koreans. take note.

Step 1: Oil Based Cleanser

This first step is mandatory but easy to follow. The first cleanser to be used is an oil based cleanser which helps in removing all the impurities, clogged pores, makeup residue but also protects the good bacteria present on the lipid layer of the skin. Step 2: Double Cleaning

The second cleanser used is water based, which helps in washing away all the unwanted oil from the previous step. It also helps to remove dirt and sweat and refreshes your pores.

Step 3: Exfoliate

Exfoliating at least 2-3 times a week, depending on your dermatologist, helps in improving the skin tone and texture thus removing dead skin cells and preventing clogging of pores. Depending on the texture of your skin, exfoliating can be done with either scrubs or chemical liquids.

Step 4: Toner

The toner helps to prepare the face for the upcoming phases and helps to balance the pH level of your skin.

Step 5: Essence

An essence which is basically a water based blend of serum and toner, will keep your skin hydrated and spotless. It is applied to get bright and radiant skin without any unwanted pigmentation.

Step 6: Ampoule/Serum

This step helps restore essential hydration to your skin by using concentrated serums that also target wrinkles, skin ageing, dryness or hyper-pigmentation.

Step 7: Sheet Mask

Sheet mask is a well known Korean product which is easy to use as well as being comfortable for the skin. This face-shaped mask is soaked in serum and hydrating essence that nourishes the skin and is suitable for all skin types.

Step 8: Eye Cream

The most sensitive area of your face is the skin around your eyes. This is the first area to show signs of wrinkles and aging, so eye creams help hydrate dry skin and maintain youthful and glowing skin.

Step 9: Moisturizer

A moisturizer strips off all the wonderful products applied up to this point and hence, rejuvenates the skin and beautifies the complexion.

Step 10: Sunscreen

Applying sunscreen is the most important step in this routine as it blocks harmful UV rays from reaching your skin, thereby reducing the chances of skin cancer and DNA damage. It also helps with unnecessary tanning.
