So, if our ties are broad, investments are deep and networking is good, we need to see that there is a greater flow of international students to India.

He said, “In a globalized world, it is absolutely necessary that the youth of India are fully aware of what is happening in the world and there is no better way to do that than by having international students among you. ”

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also congratulated the Government of Jammu and Kashmir for showcasing the strength and vibrancy of higher education scenario of India and the knowledge heritage of the Union Territory.

“Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a new dawn of development under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister. With the implementation of National Education Policy (NEP), we are internationalizing our education sector. The Ministry of Education will support, encourage and facilitate the globalization of SKUAST Kashmir,” he said.

He encouraged all universities to join efforts to establish India as a global study destination.

Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh said that the National Education Policy brought by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Capacity building promises to open career and start-up opportunities driven by competency, skill and flexible options.

“Jammu and Kashmir has the potential to become a torchbearer of India’s agri start-up movement, thanks to its rich agricultural heritage, Aroma Mission and Purple Revolution,” Singh said.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha thanked Prime Minister Modi for accelerating the development of the Union Territory and turning the erstwhile state into a preferred destination for students, travelers and entrepreneurs.

“Our aim is to invite international students to J&K for short and long term courses in various disciplines and to strengthen international relation. Over the past three years, we have focused on strengthening the education sector and developing knowledge workers in sectors including industry, agriculture and healthcare. Sinha said, serious efforts have been made to convert the dividend of knowledge into wealth for the process of innovation and development.

The Lt Governor also observed that the initiative of SCAST-Kashmir would set an example for other universities in the country. The Lt Governor noted the high standard of stay of professional faculties in the Union Territory and said that it is offering various courses including artificial intelligence, robotics, agriculture science, yoga, Sanskrit and interfaces with industries for research and innovation. Jammu and Kashmir has emerged as a major education destination as it has more than 150 higher education institutions, two Central Universities, seven State Universities, two AIIMS, IIMs, IITs, NITs, NIFT, IIMC and two Agricultural Sciences and technology universities, he said.

“Residential and exchange programs of foreign students, people-to-people contacts and institutional interactions with various institutions of Jammu and Kashmir will enrich and strengthen the global cultural synergy,” the Lt Governor said.

Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) President Vinay Sahasrabuddhe assured ICCR’s cooperation and support to J&K in organizing artisans exchange programs and organizing fairs.
