Manchester City overcame an early stagger after beating Riyad Mahrez twice to help them beat second-tier Fulham 4-1 in the FA Cup fourth round at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
A frantic start saw the Championship side take a surprise lead through Fabio Carvalho in the fourth minute before Ilke Gundogan leveled for the Premier League leaders, firing from close home after being fielded by Mahrez.
Fulham’s opening spark was completely extinguished in 13 minutes when centre-back John Stones topped Kevin De Bruyne to turn the corner for his second goal of the season.
Fulham ragged after the break as they created chances at will and won via a quickfire double from Mahrez, who came first from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute after a foul on Jack Grealish.
