PSG owner Qatari Sports Investments clarified that they are selling the French club, this is nothing but false news

A Spanish television program caused a storm on the internet when they claimed that French football royalty Paris Saint-Germain is up for sale. The El Chiringueto report claimed that the PSG owners were throwing in the towel and that the star-studded football club has a lifespan of around six months.

PSG owner Qatari Sports Investments has denied these claims and are nothing but false news. “It is no coincidence that it comes from cheap Spanish media,” the owners said in a statement.

It is an open secret that the club’s persistent Champions League failures have left PSG chairman Nasser al-Khelaiyi disappointed. Despite putting billions of rupees in big names like Lionel Messi and Neymar, PSG have not been able to win the UEFA Champions League.

PSG came close to winning the Champions League in 2020 but lost to Bayern Munich in the final.

The year was particularly bad for the French powerhouse in the Champions League as they were knocked out in the first leg of the knockout stages. PSG were defeated by 12-time Champions League winners Real Madrid.

It was also reported by ESPN that PSG’s flamboyant president, Nasser Al-Khelai, went looking for the referee after the game to confront him about some of his decisions.

Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) bought Paris Saint-Germain in 2011. QSI is backed by Qatar’s state-run Sovereign Wealth Fund.

After being bought by Qatar Sports Investments, PSG have enjoyed unprecedented success in the French league but European success is still far from them. The current loss has also fueled speculation that superstars like Kylian Mbappe may leave PSG this summer.
