Families of farmers who were allegedly crushed to death by a car driven by a Union minister’s son in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri have agreed to cremate the bodies. Initially, he refused the cremation, demanding a post-mortem report and a copy of the FIR.

  5. Ms Gandhi Vadra and party colleague Deepender Singh Hooda, are still in custody and alleged that they were being held illegally.

  7. Union minister Ajay Mishra and his son Ashish Mishra, who have been accused of murder, denied that they were at the spot on Sunday. Both said that they were attending a function along with Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya.

  8. A video is being circulated on social media which clearly captures the moment the SUV rammed into a crowd of protesters and crushed several of them. Apart from several opposition leaders, it was also tweeted by BJP MP Varun Gandhi, who said it “shakes the soul”.

  9. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, who was in Guwahati for a function this afternoon, avoided questions from reporters on the incident at Lakhimpur Kheri.

  10. Even today, the Uttar Pradesh Police has stopped the opposition leaders who went to ground zero of Sunday’s violence. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was not allowed to exit from Lucknow airport.
