Farmers protest: ‘Disgruntled’ BJP leader Varun Gandhi shares video of Vajpayee to target Modi government

‘Disgruntled’ BJP MP Varun Gandhi – removed from the saffron party’s national executive this month after sharing a post on social media on Lakhimpur Kheri and protesting farmers – has trained his guns on the Modi government on Thursday and the former prime minister. A clip of Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been tweeted. Speaking in support of farmers who have been protesting since 1980.

Gandhi shared a short clip of a speech by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee from 1980 in which he warned the then Indira Gandhi government against the oppression of farmers and extended his support to them.

Gandhi tweeted, “Wise words from a leader with a big heart…”

The BJP MP has been vocal in sympathizing with farmers agitating against the three agricultural laws enacted by the Modi government and sharing Vajpayee’s speech is seen as his message to the central government.

In the video clip, Vajpayee can be heard telling a gathering that farmers cannot be intimidated.

“…Warn the government against scaring the farmers. Don’t try to scare us… Farmers are not afraid. We don’t want to use the farmers’ movement for politics…” Vajpayee said in the video.

The former PM further said, “If the government suppresses (farmers), abuses laws and suppresses peaceful agitation, we will not hesitate to join the farmers’ struggle and stand with them.”

“We support their genuine demands, and if the government tries to intimidate us, or misuse the laws, or disregard the peaceful movement of farmers, we will also become part of the movement,” he says.

Gandhi has also demanded strict action against those responsible for the deaths of four farmers allegedly linked to BJP leaders in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri. He was recently dropped from the BJP’s national executive, which was seen as a sign of the party leadership’s unhappiness with the Pilibhit MP.

Last week, BJP president JP Nadda announced the party’s 80-member national executive. BJP MP Varun Gandhi, who has been speaking in support of farmers during the ongoing agitation against three agricultural laws, removed his MP mother Maneka Gandhi and former Union minister Birender Singh, who has been a supporter of the movement, as working members. Given.

The executive is a major deliberative body of the party that meets to discuss the major issues facing the government and shape the agenda of the organisation.
