FCI corruption case: CBI raids 30 places in Punjab

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday carried out searches at 30 places in Punjab in connection with allegations of corruption against the Food Corporation of India (FCI).

According to media reports, FCI officials allegedly procured substandard food grains to benefit traders and rice millers.

He said CBI teams under ‘Operation Kanak 2’ carried out coordinated raids on premises of grain traders, rice mill owners and serving and retired officers of FCI in several districts of Punjab including Sirhind, Fatehpur Sahib and Monga. ,

This is the second round of searches in an FIR related to an organized syndicate of officers in FCI who allegedly extorted Rs 1000-4000 per truck unloaded into FCI godowns per crop season to cover low-quality grains from private millers. Took bribe them and other favors.

It alleged that bribes were allegedly distributed to officials at each level reaching the headquarters in a well-defined percentage of deduction at each level.

The FIR details the collection of such bribes in several FCI depots across Punjab.



He said officials ranging from technical assistants to executive directors were allegedly part of a syndicate taking bribe from private millers.

The CBI has alleged, “The amount of bribe is collected by the FCI officials at the depot level on the basis of per truck unloaded at the FCI depot during storage of food grains. After this this bribe amount is distributed to various ranks of FCI.
