File a sedition case against Kangana, cancel her Padma award: Army leader

Shiv Sena leader Neelam Gorhe on Thursday said actor Kangana Ranaut He should face a case of treason for terming India’s independence as “alms”, and his Padma Shri award revoked. The actor recently said during an event organized by a news channel that the country’s independence in 1947 was not “bheek” (begging). “And we got real freedom in 2014,” Ranaut said, clearly referring to the BJP coming to power.

Gorhe, deputy chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, said in a release that the actor made a very irresponsible, baseless and unhistoric statement. Gore said that he has also insulted all former Prime Ministers including the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He should be charged with treason for his comments. The Shiv Sena leader said that his Padma award should also be cancelled. Earlier in the day, the Aam Aadmi Party submitted an application to the Mumbai Police seeking registration of a case against Ranaut. AAP’s national executive member Preeti Sharma Menon termed the actor’s remarks as seditious and provocative.
